New research from Charles Sturt University indicates that Covid – 19 has added considerable mental health issues to a sector that is already under pressure from long term exposure to trauma.
This research perhaps answers the question as to why Beyond The Badge is starting to get more inquiries from current first responders across the country who are looking for other employment opportunities Sean Haran, Director at Beyond The Badge said recently.
Clearly there are so many pieces to this ongoing situation including growing anxiety, increased workloads, concern for family at home, access to PPE and lack of communication. Moreover, the fact that there is no actual end date for the additional work that first responders are having to undertake, is clearly having a massive affect on general wellbeing and worry about what the future in the job holds.
The report finds that in relation to Workplace Engagement, there is a significant shift where over one-third (35.9%) of the studies respondents are potentially seeking alternative employment and 5% are actually seeking other employment.
We believe that Beyond The Badge will start to field more inquiries from our overstretched first responders and we are ready and here to serve and support their needs Mr Haran said.
Beyond The Badge sincerely thanks Charles Sturt University for this timely study and looks forward to supporting all first responders who may be seeking an alternative career.
Beyond The Badge is a Not-for-Profit Charity supporting First Responders who are seeking to find alternative career and job opportunities after their service.
